Landon's 1st Field Trip

Landon went on his very first field trip today, and he was quite excited about it. His kindergarten class went to the local pumpkin patch to pick out their very own pumpkin.

Now, some of you may recall the pumpkin patch fiasco the Trezise family experienced last year. In case you have not been following our blog for that long, or you have forgotten, allow me to recap. Landon was determined to find "the perfect pumpkin" and had a list of specifications 2 miles long. He refused to vacate the patch until the elusive gourd was found. We spent about two hours trying to talk him into one pumpkin or another while he found flaw after flaw after flaw. Too big. Too small. Not enough stem. Not a "4-year-old" pumpkin (we never did figure out what he was aiming for there). Not orange enough. You get the picture. He finally settled on one, but we had to help him "stay committed" on the way out, lest he waffle and the search begin anew.
So, Will and I were a bit worried about the great pumpkin quest this year, but (truth be told) were slightly grateful we would not have to experience a repeat of last season's hunt. We had a chat with him about not being too picky. We even considered forewarning his teacher. In the end though, we sent him off to school, told him to have a good time, stay with the group, and listen to his teacher. We figured that covered all the bases.
When I picked him up from the bus stop, he hopped off, carrying his prize-a lopsided, smallish sized pumpkin with several green spots on the back. What?? I asked him about his field trip, but all he wanted to chat about his snack. At dinner, Will and I prodded him some more. He wasn't very talkative. I finally asked out right if he had had a hard time finding his "perfect pumpkin". (Direct quote here) "Way no. It was just sitting there. Right in front of me."
I was baffled, to say the least.
All I know is, I am taking Mrs. Romney with me every year to help Landon pick out his "perfect pumpkin"!!

I love that goofy grin!! He's his own man, he picks out his own pumpkins and this year didn't want to be picky!! Aparently he had better things to do than spend 2 hours picking out the perfect pumpkin!!
