Scooters, Puppies, and Ice Cream

It has been a tiny bit warmer here, so we have been braving the elements and venturing out of the house. There is a park right down the street from where we live, and the boys have been dying to test their new scooters out on the open road. We loaded up Avery in her stroller and all the kids wheeled their way to the park-with some assistance from Mom and Dad. Landon is quite the kamikaze on two wheels, but we made it without incident. There was a family at the park with a lab puppy, and my kids wore themselves (and the puppy) out attempting to chase it down and wrangle it into their laps.

I tired several times to get a good shot, and this was the
best one I got. Please ignore the cute, random little girl in the
background.

After the park, we walked over to an old fashion ice cream parlor, and let the kids ruin their dinner with blue, bubblegum flavored ice cream. If you were ever a kid, you remember the flavor. I sampled some of Landon's, and I can report that it is not any more palatable than it was 20 years ago, when I ate it. The bubble gum balls that are mixed in literally dissolve into the surrounding goop because of the sugar saturation. Very healthy. But the kids loved it, and have been talking about our outing ever since. I figure that for on afternoon, we sacrificed nutrition for some great family memories.
