The 4th of July is my favorite holiday! We had tons of fun this year, celebrating our nation's birthday!
We started our day off, bright and early with a pancake, sausage, and orange juice breakfast, compliments of the local fire department. Avery had the best time stabbing her "mancakes" with her fork, and feeding herself. Tristan only ate his sausage (and Mom's, and Dad's, Avery's.) Landon loved the orange juice because it was partially frozen. Mom and Dad loved the whole breakfast because there was no cooking or cleaning up!
After our breakfast, we watched the Town of Clarkdale's children's parade with some fun friends, the Ullerys and the Sorensens.
There was PLENTY of candy for all the kids, and the parade was super short, which was super nice, since it was SUPER hot!
We saw some friends in the parade, marching with their kids. You go Gordon families!!
Will and Dan Sorensen showed up to the parade in the same outfit, so I had to take a picture. There aren't many places to shop around here!
After the parade, there were carnival games for the kids, where they could win small prizes or free snow cones. The Trezise kids worked hard to win the much coveted "free snow cone tickets", and managed to earn one for each of them.
Then we went to the Sorensen's house and ate some lunch. (no pictures, because we were having so much fun.) The kids spent most of the afternoon swimming in the kiddie pool and running in the sprinklers. The "big kids" played board games and watched the hot dog eating contest. Gross! Thank you to the Sorensen's for having us over, and sharing your holiday with us!!
We ended the day with fireworks, and the city of Cottonwood did not disappoint! We enjoyed a lovely display. Tristan was a bit overwhelmed by the noise, so he fell asleep a few minutes after they started. Avery watched from my lap, and about 3/4 of the way through, she turned to me and said "Mommy! Stars! You see dat?"
It was a wonderful day, full of fun, family and friends. I am so grateful to live in this free country, and am most especially thankful for all the men and women who sacrifice to keep it free.
