Last night for Family Home Evening, we had a lesson about Lehi leading his family into the wilderness before Jerusalem was destroyed. We talked about how he left his home and all his possessions and took only "...his family, and provisions, and tents...". Everyone then got to pick three things we would take with us if our family had to leave and live in the "woods" (as Landon refers to the wilderness). The list was pretty funny, so I thought I would share it.
Landon
1. Water (nice thinking)
2. His pillow and blanket
3. "Brownie" (stuffed dog) and his Valentine's Day puppy from Mom and Dad (a current stuffed favorite)
Tristan
1. Carrots (incidentally, he was holding a plastic, play carrot)
2. His pillow and blanket
3. "Hippo" (the infamous hippo discussed in an earlier post), Dinosaur Jones (stuffed dino named after his nursery teacher in Cottonwood, Sister Carrie Jones), "Pink Piggy" (self explanatory but also stuffed), and his Valentine's Day puppy
It seems that Tristan's list may have been influenced by Landon's.
Avery (With some help from the boys)
1. Food
2. Sippy cup with lots of water and some Cheerios
3. Valentine's Day puppy
Dad
1. Pictures of the family (Awwww)
2. Scriptures (Wow)
3. Tent
Mom
1. Knife (A sharp one-Landon asked what kind)
2. Blankets
3. Milk Cow (Will wants to know what we will feed it.)
We also complied a list of things we would miss. Here are a few.
1. Couch (Landon)
2. TV and satellite (Will)
3. Computer (Mom-no more blogging, sad day!)
4. Carpet (Landon)
5. Van (Mom)
6. Blue's Clues and Polka Dots (Tristan, but then he said he thought we could take them)
7. Kitchen-aid mixer (Will)
8. Crib/beds (Avery)
9. Soap (Mom)
10. Washer and Dryer (Mom)
11. Plates (Landon)
12. Yummy Food (Dad)
13. Friends (Dad)
14. Bryson Raban (Landon)
We are going to repeat this every year, and compare previous year's lists. We had a lot of fun, but had a difficult time narrowing our choices down to the bare essentials. I think a few necessities were added under Avery's name to make room for some superfulous items.

what about me? You forgot me!
What a cute idea!! I love what they chose--that's a fun idea to do it every year and see how that changes. =)
