Double Birthday Bash

Family Pic-Grandma Ann insisted

The Trezise house was the place to be this weekend! Grandma Ann, Uncle Shane, Uncle Shawn, Uncle Preston, Auntie Heather, cousin Jaxon, and Aunt Jenny all made the long trip to Snowflake to help us celebrate Erin and Avery's birthdays. Despite the weather, we all had a great time! It was freezing cold here, and the wind was something else. At one point it was blowing so hard, I thought seriously about tying a string to anyone under 30 lbs., just in case.

Frost on the trees outside-Burrr Cold!

Aunt Jenny arrived here early Friday afternoon. It was homecoming week here, so we dragged her to the homecoming parade. Landon and Tristan loved it because they threw candy. Flying chocolate-could this be heaven? Later that evening, Grandma Ann and Shawn and Shane arrived. We could tell how much T-Bird has been missing his Cottonwood family because he spent the evening going from person to person, doling out kisses and cuddles. Avery found her beloved Uncle Shawn and glommed on.
Heather and Preston showed up early Saturday morning. We sugared everyone up by serving doughnuts for breakfast. The cousins spent the day running off the sugar high together. We parents hardly heard a peep unless someone was hungry. We filled em' up and sent them on their merry way.
The highlight of the day came when Brent (Erin's honey) brought a real, live Shetland pony to the backyard for the kids to ride. Avery was not impressed with her birthday pony, but the three boys were in heaven! Bob was a little portly (as is evidence by his rotund physique in the photo), so he preferred sampling the green grass to hauling around three squirmy boys. Brent took the pony by the horns and led him around, however reluctantly. We rewarded Bob's efforts by feeding him several apples and an entire bag of baby carrots (meant for the stew I was going to make for after church). He definitely earned that meal!

No birthday would be complete without presents. Avery was not enthusiastic about opening her's, but she did enjoy the contents once revealed. She got a couple of baby dolls, several outfits, 2 strollers, and her first purse. She has since made it her earthly mission to "fit" herself into the baby strollers. She is much too big, but she keeps trying. She is also enjoying the wonders of fitting the "essentials" (pretend lipstick, 2 cars, a bracelet, a dolly, and a duplo lego) into her very own bag. She has been educating her brothers that you don't mess with a lady's purse, and screams loudly if she feels that one of them is getting too close to her personal belongings.
Another highlight was the cake sampling. At first, Avery daintily pinched off small pieces of her cake and delicately sampled the frosting. After a minute or two though, she threw caution to the wind and dug right into that bad dog. She whooped it, and the only evidence that the cake put up any sort of fight was the frosting in her hair!
It was a really great weekend, and we want to thank everyone for coming. Family is such an awesome thing! Note to all in attendance-it's almost mine and Jaxon's "birt-days", and we were talking...we want an elephant at our birthday bash. We hope we have given enough advanced notice for one to be procured.

Avery-post cake consumption. Yum!
