Pumpkins and Corn Mazes

Will did not have to work today, which is a rare treat for our family now that he is the branch manager, so we decided to take the kids to the pumpkin patch. They had the best time! The weather was perfect, and it wasn't very crowded, so they were free to roam and find their "perfect" pumpkin.
The quest for the perfect pumpkin was a long and arduous task for Landon. He had a list of specifications, and finding "the one" that fit the bill proved much more difficult that we imagined. His pumpkin had to be a "4 year-old" pumpkin (our best guess is that he is referring to size. He wanted Avery's pumpkin to be the smallest, and Tristan's bigger than Avery's, but smaller than his) It had to be tall, not short. It had to have a good size stem, not too long, and not too short. It had to be big enough to carve a big ghost on it, but small enough for him to carry. And lastly, it had to "twirl good" when you rotated the stem in your hand. Whew. He took his task very seriously, and Landon and I were still looking long after everyone else had selected their prize. He kept picking one up, announcing that it was the one, and then changing his mind. At long last, he found a pumpkin that fit the bill, and we beat feet out of the patch. He had to reminded to "stay committed" on the way out, but his pumpkin made it to weigh-in, and finally into the stroller to be taken home.
Tristan's pumpkin hunting approach was the exact opposite of Landon's. He picked up every pumpkin he saw and would cry 'Oh, this is a cute one!" or "Look at this baby one!" The back of the stroller was overflowing with Tristan's finds; in fact we had to talk him out of several pumpkins. In the end, he took home one regular pumpkin, (size approved by Landon), a "pokey pumpkin" (a yellow gourd with bumps on it) and a "stripey pumpkin" (an orange gourd with green and yellow stripes). He even picked out a cute baby pumpkin for Avery.
Avery held on to her pumpkin and sat patiently in her stroller the whole time. We never heard a peep out of her. It was great!
After the pumpkin search, we went through the corn maze. The actual maze is 10 acres, but luckily for us, they had a smaller section in the maze for kids. To find your way out, you had to answer questions about agriculture and go either right or left to the next bell depending on your answer. If the next bell rang, your answer was correct, but if not, you had to go back. They had a great time racing to the next bell. It was a really fun day!
